The first step can be small.
⎯⎯ A GENTLE BEGINNING
01
Share whether you’re exploring individual or couples therapy and ask your initial questions.
Start a conversation
02
Explore the fit
Discuss your goals, availability, fees, and what working together could look like.
03
Begin with support
When you’re ready, take the next step toward care that feels right for you.
A little clarity.
A little less unknown.
⎯⎯ IT’S OKAY TO HAVE QUESTIONS
-
No. You can begin with what feels difficult, what you hope might change, or simply that you’re unsure where to start.
-
Individual therapy focuses on your own experiences and goals. Couples therapy focuses on the relationship and shared concerns. An initial conversation can help you explore which feels appropriate.
-
You’ll have space to share what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and ask about the therapist’s approach. You can also discuss confidentiality and practical details before continuing.
-
Fees and insurance arrangements should be confirmed with the practice before scheduling. You can ask about session costs, payment options, and any out-of-network documentation.
-
Ask the practice about current session formats and therapist availability. Online therapy availability also depends on where you are located and the therapist’s licensure.
You deserve a space to feel supported.
⎯⎯ WHEN YOU’RE READY
You don’t need a perfect plan. Just a place to start.
A thoughtful first step, at your own pace.
